REGIONAL STRATEGIES

A CONFERENCE ON THE FUTURE OF THE SMALL TOWNS OF THE FLINT HILLS, FROM THE VANTAGE POINT OF A SMALL TOWN

WE ARE A CONSORTIUM OF DESIGNERS, BUILDERS, ARTISTS, EDUCATORS, AND INVESTORS WORKING TOWARD A SHARED VISION FOR THE FLINT HILLS OF KANSAS.

A MULTI-FACETED PROJECT OF THE EUREKA STUDIO/SMALL TOWN STUDIO. AN OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY THE DIVIDE BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN ENVIRONMENTS AND THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT EXIST.

Regional brands develop by accentuating the natural landscape qualities such as vineyards, ranching etc., but they are uniquely defined by the food, culture, arts and the people that make up the region.

The ARTS and DESIGN can transcend the divide between urban and rural environments. A region is best defined by a mixture of all assets and experiences. Small towns are small urban environments set in a rural setting. We will see an increased value in the new and more connected countryside that exists in the flint hills. A very small community could connect, share and participate in a larger movement.

“THE ADJECTIVE CAMPESTRAL IS AN UNCOMMON WAY TO DESCRIBE SOMETHING CONNECTED TO THE WIDE-OPEN COUNTRYSIDE. ACRES OF PRAIRIE GRASSES ARE CAMPESTRAL, AND SO ARE ROLLING GREEN HILLS AND BUCOLIC COUNTRY FIELDS.

Our focus will be affordable / alternative housing, development of the visual / performing arts, project / partnership development.
We will re-invent the way projects are conceived, programmed, designed, financed, and marketed. Our purpose is to reinvigorate and enhance the community’s social and economic state through improvements to the built environment.
We help develop enterprises that provide jobs with dignity, opportunity, and a sense of purpose.
Having said all that, I have to say this: we could use a little help.
Stay in touch.
